2025 Dynasty Riser: Kenneth Walker III

2025 Dynasty Riser Kenneth Walker III | Fantasy In Frames

Everyone loves slapping the “injury-prone” label on Kenneth Walker III, but that narrative for his path as a dynasty riser couldn’t be further from the truth. Despite setbacks, he’s grinding through pain and flashing the kind of upside fantasy owners dream about.

Walker missed six games in 2023 with a mix of oblique, calf, and ankle issues — the most he’s missed in his three-year career.

Even so, he still delivered 153 carries for 573 yards and seven touchdowns.

He also posted a career-high 46 catches for 299 yards and another score.

Despite a frustrating year, Walker finished as a high-end flex at RB27. He forced 46 missed tackles behind a dumpster-fire O-line, ranking top-10 in missed tackles per carry among backs with 100+ attempts.

Yeah, what about Zach Charbonnet?

What about him? No, I’m kidding — he’s a solid sidekick. But let’s not pretend he’s running the show.

At a glance, the two backs look like clones. Both average 4.2 yards per carry, and their receiving numbers are nearly identical—each hovering just over 7 yards per reception.

But the difference shows up in the volume—and the trust. Despite playing just eight more career games, Walker has more than doubled Charbonnet’s carries (600 to 231). And he’s doubled him in rushing yards, too– (2,528 to 1,031).

But the real story behind Walker’s ups and downs lies in the trenches — specifically, Seattle’s blocking group. With the right line and scheme, his fantasy breakout feels imminent.

24th in Run-Blocking—And It Showed

The Hawks’ front five was, frankly, inept last year. PFF gave them a run-blocking grade of just 58.6, ranking 24th in the league. Unsurprisingly, the ground game struggled to find consistency behind a unit that couldn’t open lanes.

Ironically, Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet still managed to finish tied for RB32 (min. 100 carries) in explosive runs—rushes of 15+ yards.

Back in 2023, things were better—Seattle ranked 15th in run-blocking, per PFF. With more room to work, Walker’s burst was alive, finishing as the RB15 in explosive runs. Charbonnet, meanwhile, was still hanging out in the basement—RB38.

The Seahawks knew they had to improve up front, so they made a statement—drafting a versatile guard, Grey Zabel, with the 18th overall pick.

Zabel anchored a dominant ground game at North Dakota State in 2023, where the Bison led the FCS in total rushing yards. Then, last season, he helped pave the way for freshman running back CharMar Brown, who ran for 1,181 yards and 15 touchdowns behind Zabel’s blocking.

Built for Burst: A Scheme Made for Walker

Significant changes are on the way to the Pacific Northwest. Ryan Grubb is out, and Klint Kubiak, the new offensive coordinator from the Shanahan coaching tree, is in.

He brings a zone-blocking scheme to create space and reward explosive runners like Walker.

Kubiak has a track record of feeding lead backs as an offensive coordinator, from his time with the 2021 Vikings to his recent stint with the Saints. Here’s a quick look at backfield usage under his guidance:

2024 (Saints – Alvin Kamara):

2021 (Vikings – Dalvin Cook):

This is the kind of usage you want for a home-run hitter like Walker, and Kubiak’s system is built to make that happen.

Fairly Priced—But the Ceiling’s Still Higher

As of June, Kenneth Walker III’s ADP on Dynasty League Football (DLF) ranks him as the RB13 in Superflex formats—a fair price given his talent and role.

In single-QB leagues, however, he’s going off the board as RB16 behind players like TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, and Josh Jacobs.

Given Jacobs’ age (27) and both rookies stepping into lackluster offenses, I’d gladly smash the draft button on Walker as a dynasty riser over all three. He’s got the proven volume, the scheme fit, and a top-10 ceiling that’s very much in play.

At RB16, you are paying for his floor and getting the ceiling for free!
