2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Alec Pierce Re-Signs with the Indianapolis Colts

Welcome to our coverage at Fantasy In Frames regarding recent 2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Alec Pierce Re-Signs with the Indianapolis Colts!

The Indianapolis Colts have made a MASSIVE commitment to their top WR from 2025, as the franchise has given Alec Pierce a new four-year, $116 million contract. Everyone is going to look at this situation and say Pierce is now isolated from the Colts for years to come, but I personally want to be more conservative about it.

I’m not going to sit here and deny that Alec Pierce was a very productive player for fantasy managers last season, because he absolutely was. To lay out just how good the breakout WR was, the player finished as the WR23 in Half PPR scoring. His previous career high in that category was WR49. The young receiver also displayed an extremely impressive 2.25 yards per route run in 2025, and had ELITE usage in Indy by carrying an insane 19.4 aDOT. A LOT went right for Alec Pierce last year.

The reason why I want to be a bit conservative with Alec Pierce next season is because of what the player does (or does not) truly bring to the table. It’s great that you are one of the very best deep threats in the game and line up a ton on the outside (89% out wide rate last season), but you need to have a more expansive skillset and need to be able to work at ALL levels of the field to find consistent, high level fantasy success year in and year out. Pierce’s career high in receptions is 47, set in 2025… so not a lot of volume at the end of the day. Very efficient on that volume, but still, not a lot.

Also, with Michael Pittman Jr. no longer in the picture in Indy, I am curious as to how that will affect other pass catchers like Josh Downs. Downs had a 80.6% slot rate in 2025, and I am wondering if that will change at all and if the player will become more versatile in terms of alignment during the season with Pittman no longer in the mix.

I am not saying that I won’t take Alec Pierce at all in drafts next year, because he IS a big play threat and coming off of a career year at the very least, but I guarantee you that I am not going to be nearly as aggressive as everyone else will be with the player. If Pierce ends up going high in drafts, I’ll just sit it out and take other more cleaner projection guys in that range. Right now, I predict that Alec Pierce will be overdrafted in 2026 fantasy drafts and receive way too much hype based on the huge contract he just signed.
