2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: DJ Moore Being Traded To The Buffalo Bills

Welcome to our coverage at Fantasy In Frames regarding recent 2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: DJ Moore Being Traded To The Buffalo Bills!

Before I get started, let me get this all out of the way:

Yes, I live and breathe as a member of Bills Mafia.

No, I haven’t jumped through a table yet.

Yes, I will still remain impartial in my analysis of news and advice regarding the Buffalo Bills and their players for fantasy football purposes.

No, I will not concede that the New England Patriots are the team to beat out of the AFC East.

Yes, for our producer Jim Bednar, who is an avid Pats fan, I still have two words for ya:

Here are some more fun facts about me.

These articles are how I got started here as a member of the FIF Family, a year ago today! They are my bread and butter. In fact, you can go back and see some of those discussions if you’d like, although some of those opinions from March of 2025 may not have aged very well (but hey, it comes with the territory, right?).

But seriously, it’s crazy to think about how far I feel I have progressed not only as a content creator but as a fantasy analyst in the fantasy community. When it comes to fantasy football, I am as addicted to research and having discussions and debates about players as Fantasy In Frames founder, Jorge Edwards, is to Star Trek, Pro Wrestling, and Lord of the Rings movies, which, by the way, I recently watched Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, both of which were amazing. Return of the King, you’re up next!

All that being said, enough about me.

Let’s get into why you are all here today!

Our first big trade domino has fallen in the NFL as free agency approaches, as the Chicago Bears have traded WR DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills for a 2026 second-round pick. The Chicago Bears had a lot of high-level young pass catchers in the pipeline, so they were looking to move off of Moore. At the end of the day, I believe this move benefits both franchises from a fantasy football perspective.

Let’s dive into why!

Although at first glance it may seem like a steep price to pay, DJ Moore brings a skillset that the Buffalo Bills DESPERATELY needed. Ever since the team traded away Stefon Diggs a couple of years ago, they have been searching mightily for a true WR1, mainly through free agency. Curtis Samuel and Josh Palmer have been brought in as free agents each of the last two years, and both were complete flops of signings. In 2025, the Bills’ “top” target earner was Khalil Shakir with 91, which is a relatively low number for a team’s best receiving option compared to the rest of the league.

It should be noted that Joe Brady is now the head coach in Buffalo, which is VERY good for DJ Moore, as the two have an amazing track record together. In 2021, in Carolina with Brady as his OC, Moore saw a career high of 163 targets. That is an absolutely ABSURD number, and he was literally THE OFFENSE that year.

In Buffalo, the veteran receiver is set up to be a target hog once again, as the player is likely walking into 100+ targets at a minimum. Tied to an elite QB in Josh Allen and put into a picture-perfect situation, I want to be aggressive on DJ Moore in drafts next year, and above consensus on the player, and you should be too. Also, this is a player who is very versatile on the field, giving us many avenues for fantasy success. Last season, in 17 games with the Chicago Bears, Moore had a 65% out-wide rate, a 32.6% slot rate, and even a 2.3% backfield rate.

He can do it all. Outside of Moore, however, I am not drafting a single other Bills pass catcher in 2026, as it is too difficult to gauge/predict how it’s all going to shake out on a weekly basis during the season. Between Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and likely a high-level rookie, you just never know who’s going to play when and how much, let alone who’s actually going to produce for you within the group.

With DJ Moore moving on, the Chicago Bears receiver who benefits the most going forward is Luther Burden. Rome Odunze is his own conversation as a former top 10 pick just two years ago, but the hype with Burden is about to get absolutely out of control, maybe even too much so. The number one reason why fantasy managers are so hyped for the second year WR is that he was the Bears’ legitimate #1 option down the stretch last year, even over DJ Moore, and got better and better as the season went on.

From weeks 10-18, Luther Burden averaged 60.1 receiving yards per game and displayed a wildly impressive 2.85 yards per route run. This is a player who also got a lot of easy access and schemed up touches over this stretch, as he saw a high 22.2% Designed Play Rate. Second-year breakouts are all the hotness these days, and because of that, Luther Burden is going to get steamed up a TON in the coming months.

That’s where I personally struggle with it, because I just don’t know if I’ll be completely on board with his value come draft time this summer. Luther Burden as a top 30 WR? Ok, sure, sounds great. Top 20 though? That’s where I draw the line. That’s just too much hype, for me at least. It is completely fine to be excited about Luther Burden and his 2026 fantasy value/outlook, given that DJ Moore is no longer in the picture in Chicago, but let’s not get out of control here.
