2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Mike Evans Signed by the San Francisco 49ers

Welcome to our coverage at Fantasy In Frames regarding recent 2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Mike Evans Signed by the San Francisco 49ers!
It sounds crazy to say, but future Hall of Fame WR Mike Evans has left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and relocated to the San Francisco 49ers by signing a three-year, $42.4 million contract with the franchise. Before 2025, Evans had ELEVEN STRAIGHT SEASONS of 1,000 receiving yards, and the 49ers needed pass catchers outside of just Ricky Pearsall going forward. Fantasy managers should be VERY excited for Evans in San Francisco in 2026.

Everyone is going to say that Mike Evans is “injury-prone” at this point in his career. Yes, he only played in 8 games last season due to hamstring and shoulder injuries…but when the veteran WR was actually on the field, he produced. 21.5% target share, seven endzone targets, and a 75.6% out wide rate…all EXTREMELY impressive numbers. Do not discount this player’s outstanding talent just because of his age at this point.
Let’s look at the amazing opportunity that Mike Evans is stepping into with the 49ers in 2026. Brandon Aiyuk is 100% going to be cut very soon; Jauan Jennings is going to move on as a free agent at this point; and Ricky Pearsall has shown flashes of dominance in the past, but nothing overly consistent. Oh, and George Kittle is going to miss a big chunk of the season with a torn Achilles, and when he does come back, who knows how good he’ll even be at nearly 33 years old now. The target upside for the future Hall of Famer next season is clear as day here.
I know this is a Mike Evans discussion, but as a side note… go out and trade for Ricky Pearsall in Dynasty right now. You can do this because everyone will look at the Evans addition and just set Pearsall aside. Yes, the player is still a relatively big projection going forward, but I still believe in the talent and former first-round pedigree just two years ago, personally.
I’m not saying that I’m going to be irresponsible with Mike Evans next year, but if people are going to discount the player because of age and injuries from last season, I will absolutely jump on that value in drafts.
