Welcome to our coverage at Fantasy In Frames regarding recent 2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Travis Etienne Signed by the New Orleans Saints!
Travis Etienne is coming off a dominant 2025 season, and because of that, his most ideal outcome for fantasy purposes would have been to return to the Jacksonville Jaguars and stay in the great situation that the player was already in. The talented RB clearly disagreed, though, as he signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the New Orleans Saints, which is a LOT of money for an RB these days. I wish I liked this move more, because I am a big fan of Etienne as a player; the situation just concerns me here.

For weeks now, I have been of the mindset that the New Orleans Saints needed to make a moderate investment in an RB to work in tandem with Alvin Kamara this offseason at this point in his career, rather than go “all in” on a guy like Travis Etienne. On the surface, the Saints are going to have a pretty well-rounded offense in 2026 with Tyler Shough, Chris Olave, and now Etienne, definitely better than it has been the last few years, at the very least.
Reports are that teams are calling the Saints about trading for Alvin Kamara right now, but whenever we hear this, the team just ends up keeping the veteran RB, and nothing ever comes to fruition. So even at this point in his career, Kellen Moore and his staff still like to utilize Kamara as a pass-catching back, and I fear that Travis Etienne will be relegated to a very talented early-down back because of that, which makes the player’s choice here even more perplexing to me.
In 2025 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, amongst RBs who totaled at least 150 carries on the season, the player ranked 15th in yards before contact per attempt, and also chipped in greatly in the receiving game as well by finishing 11th in yards after the catch per reception, 17th in missed tackles forced per reception, and 19th in first downs per route run amongst all RBs that saw at least 30 targets last season as well (Fantasy Points Data Suite).
I was notably out on Travis Etienne in drafts last summer…and I ended up being dead wrong about the player. I hate to do it again, but I am going to be out on Etienne in drafts this year as well. Yes, talent can trump situation in some cases…but it’s not like the Saints are some bust-proof, high-powered offense where that could come to fruition.
