2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Tyler Allgeier Signed by the Arizona Cardinals

Welcome to our coverage at Fantasy In Frames regarding recent 2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Tyler Allgeier signed by the Arizona Cardinals!

Tyler Allgeier has signed a perplexing two-year, $12.25 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals…and for fantasy purposes, this is not good. At all. That Arizona backfield is a mess now with Allgeier joining the fray.

I wanted Allgeier to become a workhorse back and recapture his 1,000-yard rookie season form as a free agent so badly this offseason, but with Arizona, that is impossible. In 2025, the Cardinals’ backfield was quite literally a disaster, as every single RB got injured at one point or another. So maybe the team wanted to protect against that situation happening again under a new coaching staff, but now they have three very capable RBs, and they are all going to eat into each other’s value in 2026, if you ask me.

Everyone was expecting James Conner to be cut by the Cardinals due to age and injury history, but nope, he’s back via a contract restructure. Conner is still a volume back at this point in his career, and that is not something that fantasy managers want to hear right now, because it will lead to an ugly timeshare between him, Trey Benson, and Tyler Allgeier. The Cardinals also have a very slow, lackluster offense to begin with.

As they say, “value can be found in the most mysterious backfield situations.” While yes, that can be true in some instances, this is a backfield that I am NOT willing to mess around with. Not only are there two RBs to deal with here, but THREE. What an absolute headache. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. Right now, though, I’m just not willing to take that plunge/risk.
