Welcome to our breakdown of the Top 50 Dynasty Linebackers in IDP Fantasy Football, providing you with what you need to start laying the foundation for — or improving — your IDP dynasty rosters. From elite cornerstone assets to ascending young linebackers with long-term upside, these rankings are designed to help fantasy managers build sustainable success in Dynasty IDP formats. Linebacker is one of the most predictable and at the same time dangerous positions in IDP fantasy football. Typically, in a start-up, you want to chase elite defensive ends as their playing time is connected to their analytics (win %, true pass sets, TFL, press rate, etc.). The opposite is true for linebackers. As teams tend to play the hot hand, volume is king here, even if that means just 2-3 years of job security. That's a brutal fact in IDP, but some historical data on age cliffs might help clear up the landscape. Most linebackers hit their peak production between the ages of 25 and 28. With solid production, you still see older linebackers being top plays each week, often holding until about 31, before a steep drop-off tends to hit quickly. That age curve is everything in dynasty. So here are my five tenets and what I want in strategy when approaching Linebacker for a Dynasty league: Prioritize youth Target three-down roles 90-100% snaps share guys Chase “green dot” or outside linebacker (I don't play Same LBs usually, because they come off the field for slot cornerbacks often and don't get the reps) Don’t ever overpay for aging production, much less IDP, which don't pay much. For the purposes of this article, I'll be using FantasyData IDP scoring to assign fantasy value to the position, as its broader scoring metrics help to encompass more popular scoring settings in the IDP Fantasy Football community: Tier 1: Cornerstone Linebackers These are franchise-level IDP assets. Safe, elite, and long-term anchors. Both number one and number two can be argued and flipped around, but based on team schemes and a three-year look-back, this is how I separate the two players. 1. Jack Campbell, Detroit Lions Campbell, at just 25, is already a full-time green dot and has produced, with or without Alex Anzalone. Now that he's gone, the sky is the limit. Scoring as the LB2 last season in 1-2-3 scoring last season, and the NFL Pro-Butkus Award Winner. His resume is stacked compared to some of the others on this list. In the first three seasons in the league, 405 and 210 solos in his first three years. Last season was wonderful. Playing all 17 games in 2025: 176 tackles 89 solo tackles 5 sacks Pro NFL Butkis Award Winner He’s the LB1 in Dynasty IDP builds. He has the ideal combination of a full-time role, elite tackle floor, and age advantage. 2. Carson Schwesinger, Cleveland Browns https://twitter.com/dalvinthetruth/status/1996667056834351599?s=20 The most complete rookie linebacker profile in this tier, and he's just 23 years old. Playing a three-down role from the beginning of his career, he logged significant snaps until giving in to an injury in Week 16, placing 8th in the NFL with 146 tackles and sprinkling in two interceptions. LB10 overall as a rookie 146 tackles in 16 games 7 double-digit tackle games Defensive Rookie of the Year Won Defensive Rookie of the Year Tier 2: "Shooting For Elite Production" 3. Edgerrin Cooper. Green Bay Packers Cooper had a let-down season (just LB36 last season) largely because of the emergence of Quay Walker. Cooper's splash plays were cut from 13 in 2024 to 4 in 2025. Despite this, he is the definition of volatility with upside. He'll have Zaire Franklin in his way again this upcoming season, so this is a hold for Dynasty purposes for now. LB36 finish (down year) 118 tackles 13 TFL as a rookie, but last season it dropped to 4 Snap competition is impacting production We aren't saying he'll be the LB3 this season. What we are saying is he has the brightest future for the things we want in IDP. Franklin may have a tackle or two this year, but his career future is bright, so consider his range of outcomes is wide. So, arguably, the best low candidate on this list, and his window, would be right now. 4. Ernest Jones, Seattle Seahawks One of the most underrated players in all of IDP. At first glance, you think he's a journeyman linebacker, and stats are nothing to sneeze at. His profile, 60 solos is no big deal, but then look at his assists with 66 assists. 126 tackles overall in 15 games. This was good enough for IDP overall, 18 in 1-2-3 scoring. Jones gets forgotten about because he's not your traditional linebacker. His splash plays are impressive. I know, generally splash plays are fluky, but we have to bake this into the equation: 5 interceptions, 1 returned for a TD, and seven passes defended. Don't look at the players 126 tackles in 15 games 66 assists (elite swarm profile) 5 INTs + 7 PBUs Rare splash-play upside for an LB Six of his 15 were double-digit games, eleven of those at 8 or more tkls Three of the last five seasons have had 120+ tackles He’s not flashy, but he’s: Consistent High snap volume Scheme-proof Take advantage of the false narrative set upon this player and his game. 5. Cedric Gray (TEN) https://twitter.com/RealIDPHunter/status/2040988953445081373?s=20 One of the biggest breakout candidates in IDP. He was LB6 last season. Why he pops: Robert Salah is a Linebacker guru (see the tweet above), but if that doesn't do that for you, here are some strong talking points. 164 tackles 97 solo tackles 64 defensive stops (2nd amongst Linebackers) Only 23 years old Tennessee rebuilding defense = snaps on a bad offense logic Defensive scheme Robert Saleh's influence This is a future LB1 breakout profile that, if he stays healthy, is going to the moon. 6. Roquan Smith, Baltimore Ravens One of the safest veteran linebackers in fantasy football. Always consistent, whether with the Bears or Ravens. He turned 29 in April, and this is where casual fans won't notice: it is a good age for this position, as he has multiple strong years ahead of him. One of the best LB1s to draft in recent years for both redraft and Dynasty. 100+ tackles in 8 of last 10 seasons Locked into elite role Long-term job security Still in prime window despite age perception 7. Jamien Sherwood. New York Jets https://twitter.com/M_Bulger19/status/1589322782298763264?s=20 There's a case to be made that last season, this young linebacker made his money off volume. I would not fault you if you wanted to cash out on this notion in the next two seasons. Sherwood only had four tackles less than what he did in '24 with 158, but like most things, that's just one half of the story; Look at how massive the solos dropped immensely from 98 to just 71. The missed tackles are one thing, but the poor coverage is another. For Sherwood, the evidence mounts up: 154 tackles (down solo rate) Coverage struggles (46.1 PFF was 46th out of 61 eligible linebackers) Still high snap volume, but role instability could trigger efficiency decline Risk: Efficiency decline Reward: Volume-based floor in bad Jets offense Why the Jets are rebuilding: This should be a cash-cow opportunity, but the problem remains: when IDPs don't hit on analytics, they can easily be replaced, as was the case last season when the team decided to bench him in Week 8. Like Zaire Franklin and others before him, be careful. Lucky for you, the Jets will be bad, at least for a little while, so you won't have to make a decision too soon anyway. 8. Fred Warner, San Francisco 49ers 1,000-2,000 snaps guaranteed, a player who plays three downs, and wears the green dot is something every IDP owner would love to have. His only concern is that he is standing in the way of his own production. If he's healthy and all reports indicate this, then he is the most reliable elite player in all of Fantasy Football, and if you play him, he's as close to a sure thing for another three seasons. Still elite when healthy. Injury-shortened season (330 snaps) Green dot central command LB Elite coverage + leadership profile If healthy: Still top-3 dynasty LB Still Matchup-Proof 9. Zack Baun (PHI) https://twitter.com/Pickstakes/status/2052791067171307664?s=20 Like Fred Warner, Baun is 29 years old now. He had a later breakout, largely in part due to being played out of place with the Saints. Now with the Eagles, he's a locked-in contributor. Two seasons with two Pro Bowls playing in this scheme, and now in the prime of his career. Contrary to popular belief, 29 is not that old for LBs, and the extension could be a way to save some money as well. With Dean now gone, expect another solid year of production. 117 tackles (15 games) 3.5 sacks + 2 INTs Two straight Pro Bowl seasons Why he matters: Eagle's role stability N’Kobe Dean's departure opens a lane Prime production window LB10–LB15 “Back-End LB1 Re-Draft Kings” LB10 Jordan Brooks, Miami DolphinsExpecting another top-10 finish after leading the league in tackles (183 total, 96 solos). A massive volume profile tied to a shaky offense is an ideal environment for tackle production. Feels like a value if he slips in drafts. LB11 Nick Bolton, Kansas City ChiefsTrue tackle vacuum when healthy. Not elite in metrics, but the role is stable and productive. Injury history is the only real concern, but when active, he’s consistently in the LB1/LB2 range. LB12 Nate Landman, Los Angeles Rams https://twitter.com/noah_wilson1900/status/1992865410442829899?s=20 His new contract should tell you everything about how the Rams view him. Box-heavy role with job security now with a 3-year contract deal. Quietly efficient player who just produces when given snaps. Not flashy, but stable LB1/2 production for your Dynasty team. LB13 Foye Oluokun, Jacksonville JaguarsTackle machine with elite historical production. Age is starting to creep in (he has now turned 30), so monitoring the risk of decline is important. Still playable asset. Still productive but likely entering trade window territory. I like to get off these players quicker than most managers do. That way a win now team could have soemthing and I could restock before the doors fall off. LB14 Devin Lloyd, Carolina PanthersIf it's possible to be both a buy and a sell, then this would be it. Boom/bust LB2 profile with splash play ability. Interceptions and big moments keep upside alive, but consistency remains shaky. For the case of this season with the Panthers, he should be in line for a huge volume opportunity, so depending on the way your team is shaping out to be, he may be a good option in some trade package out there. LB15–LB18 “Role Volatility Tier” LB15 Deion Henley, Los Angeles Chargers https://twitter.com/RealIDPHunter/status/2041394760800239700?s=20 Ascending talent but volatile week-to-week. Scheme exposure hurt him last year, especially in coverage. Per Pro Football Focus, coverage grade was 55.7, vastly different compared to his strong '24 mark (71.3, which was top-11) Still flashes elite moments (including playoff production), but consistency is the question. If you are buying in Henley in 2025, there is no way to accurately tell which version of the player you will see in 2026. LB16 Quay Walker, Las Vegas RaidersReliable volume profile (800–980 snaps annually, 80–100+ tackles). Discipline concerns and inconsistent coaching trust are lingering issues, but the tackle floor is strong. One of these Raider's linebackers will be the LB1, but which one? LB17 Nakobe Dean, Los Vegas RaidersBig talent, but inconsistent availability and role stability. Snap counts and tackle production dipped significantly year over year. More splash play upside than reliability at this stage. One of these Raider's linebackers will be the LB1, but which one? LB18–LB20 “Production vs Risk” LB18 Azeez Al-Shaair, Houston TexansHigh-volume player with a consistent 90–110 tackle range when fully deployed. Strong stop production but aggressive style leads to penalties/suspension risk. Solid LB2, not a safe LB1 anchor, but I play him often as a bench piece, bye week replacement. Can do anything a capable LB1 could do, just don't rely on it. LB19 Terrel Bernard, Buffalo Bills https://twitter.com/RealIDPHunter/status/2041381027076018283?s=20 One of the biggest “what happened?” The evidence is shaping up to definitely say the dropoff was due to a cluster of injuries (hamstring, ankle, elbow, calf). Tackles per game dropped from 8.4 to a whopping 5.4. Still has LB1 upside due to contract extension and cleared runway, but health is the entire story. A story I'm willing to invest in yet again. LB20 Leo Chenal (WAS) https://twitter.com/RealIDPHunter/status/2033708409338397012?s=20 This is a production risk for a different reason. Chenal has always been a player on the brink of IDP success, but a limited role or snap count has kept him buried in shallow leagues so far. I was so high on Chenal when he signed with the Commanders, then Sony Styles happened. Chenal's body of work speaks for itself: The elite efficiency profile is finally entering a situation where full-time usage is possible. Career metrics are strong: Since 2023, low missed tackles 5.2%, strong coverage (top-15 range), and above-average run defense. If snaps consolidate, he has real breakout LB1 potential, just the LB2 on his team hurts his cap value short term. LB21–LB23: Stories not yet written: Rising Breakout Targets Tier LB21 Payton Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers https://twitter.com/NFL_DF/status/1867644325708095712?s=20 Huge athletic upside profile. Has flashed enough to justify LB1 upside (he's outplayed Patrick Queen in almost every major statistical category). This is the “if it hits, it hits big” tier. LB22 Jihad Campbell, Philadelphia EaglesHigh-upside rookie profile with immediate opportunity. Box usage potential and role flexibility give him fast-track breakout appeal. LB23 DeMarvion Overshown, Dallas CowboysElite range and playmaking ability. Injury history is the only reason he isn’t ranked higher. If healthy, he’s a difference-maker in coverage and pursuit. LB24–LB37: Aging Veteran Production Tier (Smoke 'em if you got 'em: Stable Ceilings) LB24 Blake Cashman – high tackle environment, steady LB2 LB25 TJ Edwards – reliable volume, safe floor LB26 T.J. Edmonds – role uncertainty, but should knock it out of the park with the Giants LB27 Robert Spillane- Before the injury was was on pace for LB22 last season before finishing LB40 LB28 Kaden Ellis – splash play LB2/3 with spike weeks LB29 Tyrel Dodson – deep value LB2/3 profile LB30 Alex Anzalone – A sneaky Green Dot for Tampa Bay in '26, steady but capped ceiling LB31 Devin Bush – resurgence opportunity in the Bears system LB32 Quincy Williams – athletic upside, role variance LB33 Alex Singleton – aging but productive LB34 Zaire Franklin – volume-heavy production anchor LB35 Patrick Queen – inconsistent fit concerns LB36 Divine Deablo – hybrid role volatility LB37 Frankie Luvu – When the pressure isn't there, you're stuck with a non-tackling linebacker. Pass LB38–LB50: Depth & Uncertainty Tier Mostly role players, depth pieces, or situational starters: Barrett Carter Eric Wilson Drake Thomas Teddy Buchanan Demetrius Knight Danny Stutsman Dee Winters Cody Simon Mack Wilson Jack Gibbens Dre Greenlaw Pete Werner Christian Harris (Falcons need outside linebacker, so could break way the depth chart during training camp) Honorable mention: "Where are they now?" Tier As a dart throw, look to training camp to see if Devin Lloyd or Bobby Okereke has a job.
