2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Kenneth Walker Signed by the Kansas City Chiefs

Welcome to our coverage at Fantasy In Frames regarding recent 2026 Fantasy Football Breaking News: Kenneth Walker Signed by the Kansas City Chiefs!

Welp, the pipe dream has come to fruition: RB Kenneth Walker has signed a three-year, $43.05 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. The entire fantasy community is absolutely erupting right now over this, as they should be. Andy Reid has been toying around with a couple of slow, inefficient RBs in Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco the last couple of years, but now he has decided to get some athleticism and explosiveness in his backfield.

Kenneth Walker’s fantasy inconsistency has never been about his talent level; it has always been about his lack of bellcow usage. For the past four years, Seattle has never treated Walker like a true workhorse back. Instead, they split his work with players like Zach Charbonnet, much to fantasy managers’ frustration. No matter how much work he may or may not get through, we know that this is a great upside play week in and week out during the season, as evidenced by ranking 2nd in Explosive Run Rate amongst RBs that had at least 150 carries in 2025, per the Fantasy Points Data Suite.

I touched on it earlier a bit, but just to put it into perspective, here’s how bad Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco were for the Kansas City Chiefs last season: Hunt averaged 3.75 yards per carry in 17 games, and Pacheco averaged 3.92 yards per carry in 13 games. Neither player even averaged double-digit fantasy points per game in Half PPR scoring in 2025, either. See how lackluster this situation was?

I don’t care how high in rankings/ADP the player gets throughout the rest of the offseason, I will be drafting Kenneth Walker EVERYWHERE next year. I have always been a huge Walker supporter personally, and this new situation is just too dreamy to pass up. No matter if it’s Patrick Mahomes or some other player at QB to start the season for the Chiefs, Andy Reid is going to design very creative and explosive plays for Kenneth Walker in open space, which is where Kenneth Walker THRIVES.

Besides, this Kansas City offense has been pretty underwhelming for the last three years now, so the team is going to have to rely on their running game more than they ever have in the past, which means that the high-level bellcow usage for Walker is FINALLY upon us after all these years.
